HELLO!
I AM
FARRIN JAMES
I graduated from the Los Angeles Film School in 2008, where I majored in Producing and Editing. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the magic of filmmaking—not just the stories on screen, but how they’re brought to life behind the scenes. Ironically, I never considered screenwriting as a career while in school, but over time I fell in love with storytelling and its ability to connect, move, and inspire people.

After graduation, I worked as a Production Assistant on TV shows and commercials, gaining hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of production. I was the type of person who went to the movies and cared less about the plot than about how the film was made—I know, I’m a bit of a film nerd! I genuinely love every part of the process: writing, producing, directing, lighting, shooting, sound—if it’s filmmaking, I’m in.

In school, I produced plenty of early projects—some rough, some promising—but each one taught me something new. The first project I co-produced after graduating was Drawn Out, in collaboration with my filmmaking partner Stephanie LaJeunesse. Later, I wrote and produced The Fandom Menace, which was the first project that made me feel like I was creating something that could truly resonate with others (besides my parents, haha).

From 2012 to 2018, I worked as a wedding videographer in Las Vegas. It was an invaluable chapter that sharpened my technical skills and taught me how to capture emotional, real-life moments. Eventually, I returned to Los Angeles and began working as a Video Production Specialist for a nonprofit organization focused on charter education. I use my skills to tell the stories of students, create impactful marketing content, and produce visuals that truly matter.

For the past two years, I’ve expanded my role even further, working as a Post Production Specialist. This experience has deepened my expertise in editing, color correction, audio design, and delivering polished content across multiple platforms. It's been an incredible opportunity to hone the craft I fell in love with years ago.

Outside of my full-time work, I continue to freelance—producing short promos, writing screenplays, and capturing stills as a photographer. At the heart of everything I do is a passion for storytelling. Whether it's a 30-second spot or a full-length narrative, my goal is always the same: to tell meaningful stories that have the power to inspire change—and maybe even change the world.
